The Sound of American Folk Art: a presentation and performance by Mark Matos

Mark Matos has been a fixture in the American underground music scene for nearly three decades; releasing a dozen critically acclaimed albums of original material, producing a #1 Mojo Magazine album of the month, and composing the soundtrack for James Franco’s “I Think You Are Totally Wrong: A Quarrel”.
He has collaborated with Nathaniel Rateliff, as well as members of Patti Smith band, Deerhoof, Tom Waits’ band, Steve Mackay of Iggy & the Stooges, Dead Meadow, Victoria Williams and many others. He teaches classes on American DIY culture and American Folk Music at the Mountain Oak Community School in Prescott, AZ. He is the founder of the Autonomous Music Preservation Society (A.M.P.S.).
